America's Vote Coming Home to Roost
Yesterday, Tom Daschle withdrew his nomination for Health and Human Services secretary in the Obama administration, a decision brought about because of the fallout from the revelation that he had only recently paid over $128,000 in back taxes.
Earlier in the day, Nancy Killefer, who had been nominated by Obama to be the government's first chief performance officer, withdrew her nomination because of past tax problems of her own.
Last week, Timothy Geithner was confirmed by the Senate as President Obama’s Treasury secretary, despite the fact that he had failed to pay $42,702 in back taxes until after he had been nominated for the job.
Earlier, New Mexico governor Bill Richardson, whom Obama had nominated to be the Commerce secretary, withdrew his name because of a grand jury investigation into a state contract awarded to his political donors.
Should we be surprised? Were there any signs before the election that Barack Obama’s judgment in choosing associates may not be the best?
Consider:
Candidate Barack Obama had known his pastor, Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright, for almost 20 years, yet said that he was unaware that Wright had suggested that the U.S. government had been involved in creating AIDS, that Louis Farrakhan was one of the greatest voices of our time, and that the United States military operations are analogous to terrorism.
Candidate Barack Obama said that he had thought that unrepentant domestic terrorist William Ayers had been rehabilitated.
Candidate Barack Obama said that he had made a mistake by engaging in any business or personal dealings with Tony Rezko, who has been indicted on charges of fraud, attempted extortion, and money laundering.
Yes, America, we’re getting what we voted for…and we can’t say we didn’t know.

1 Comments:
Joe Bidin said paying taxes was the patriotic thing to do.
But that probably doesn't include the Democrat Aristocracy.
