Did you support Barack Obama for President? Here is the company you keep.

If you supported Barack Obama for President, congratulations. You have joined the following list of distinguished men and women.

Mike Klonsky – former chairman of the Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist)

Bill Fletcher, Jr. – a founding member of the Communist Party USA (Correction: this should say "a founding member of the Black Radical Congress, an organization with ties to the Communist Party USA.")

Barbara Ehrenreich - Honorary Chairwoman of the Democratic Socialists of America

Carl Davidson – former national secretary of the Students for a Democratic Society who has called Fidel Castro “a remarkable man"

Jane Fonda - "Hanoi Jane"

Tony Rezko - Chicago slumlord convicted on several counts of fraud and bribery

Louis Farrakhan - Nation of Islam leader who has said, "White people are potential humans - they haven't evolved yet" and that the Jews are “the greatest controllers of black minds, black intelligence”

Rashid Khalidi - a former spokesperson for the PLO

William Ayers - an unrepentant domestic terrorist

Bernardine Dohrn – Ayers’ wife who was once on the FBI’s Top 10 Most Wanted List

Jeremiah Wright – “God damn America”

Danny Glover – a strong supporter of Hugo Chavez

Tom Hayden - a principal organizer of Students for a Democratic Society who called returning American POWs "liars, hypocrites and pawns"

Harry Belafonte - in 1983 praised the Soviet Union’s “peace efforts” – in 2003 blamed America for 9-11

Cornel West - Marxist professor at Princeton University and current Honorary Chair of the Democratic Socialists of America

Franklin Raines – former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Fannie Mae who walked out with 1.4 million dollars per year pension payments for life

Before you start to scream that I'm just making this up, understand that all of this if verifiable.

If you don't mind the fact that you have supported the same candidate for President as what these people have supported, that's fine.

If you do mind, and if you're upset or offended by my pointing it out, I'm sorry.

It's the truth.

I think you could add any person or country to that list that would benefit from our country being led by a weak, naive, inexperienced Noob.

Goodness, you better see who is feeding you phony facts--or do you just make them up?

Bill Fletcher Jr with the CPUSA? That's a hoot! I'm sure they will both be surprised.

Now let's see. How many millions voted for Obama? And with two practical choices, did you expect us to vote for McCain? In short, there's a rather long list of names we're part of....or do you think people are too dumb to see through this little ploy?

Hang it up, guys. At least McCain showed a little grace and class in his concession speech.

But do you know that the large majority of groups in the US calling themselves Marxists and Maoists OPPOSE Obama, and rather militantly?

Some support Nader, some McKinney, and many, no one at all.

Numerically, the socialist left who support Obama to one degree or another are really a decided minority among the socialist and communist left, not even to mention the even larger anarchist trend among the youth, who want nothing to do with any elections.

So how does that work into your scheme?

The folks you mention are rather tame in this context.

First, thanks for calling attention to my error about Fletcher in the original post. I try to be accurate, and hopefully that is now corrected.

Secondly, this post is not a commentary on any of the people I mentioned or on any of the socialist and communist left. Everyone should support whatever candidate best represents his or her own political views. I have no problem with anyone voting for Obama, Nader, or whoever as long as they understand what they believe and what the candidates believe.

What bothers me is that there are a lot of Americans who do not share the views of Barack Obama, but voted for him anyway. I know several such people personally. They really didn't understand his political views. That bothers me because I believe that everyone should educate himself as thoroughly as possible before voting.

I don't have a scheme. I simply think those who are conservative in their own views yet voted for Obama should ask themselves, "Why do the people mentioned in this post support Barack Obama? What do they see in him that I maybe didn't? Did I vote for the person who best represents my views?" Actually, they should have asked those questions before the election.

I respect and will always respect your right and everyone's right to vote for the candidate of his choice. Anyway, the election is over, so congratulations on the outcome. Barack Obama will be our next president, and I hope it was a good choice.

Obama political views are an open book, to any who care to read and assess his books and policy postions.

He is a 'high road' industrial policy capitalist and multipolar globalist--just read his Cooper Union speech to the Wall Streeters. As opposed to Clinton, a garden-variety corporate liberal capitalist, which got her on the board of Walmart for years. And McCain is an unreconstructed neoliberal capitalist--'state all evil, market all good'--that kind that says 'We're in business to make money, not steel, so we'll gut these plants and speculate in oil futures, and the workers and towns be damned.' In other words, the ones who 'cut taxes' by putting everything on the China Visa card and got us into this mess.

Actually, truth be told, Obama's brand of capitalism is best for productive businesses, and does least harm to the working class.Plus we get the benefit of new 'green jobs' to do all the above. But that means Obama's high road industrial policy promoting business that grow real wealth, rather than 'casino capitalists' who make no wealth, just gamble with other people's money in derivatives.

So when people say they 'don't know' Obama, it's just that they don't bother to read, or they really mean something else that they'd rather not say.
