Chris Matthews is maturing; he manages to forget about the President's race for one hour.
When analyzing Wednesday night's State of the Union address, MSNBC's Chris Matthews had this to say about President Obama:
So Chris Matthews forgot the President was black "for an hour"? That's interesting. I almost always forget he's black. In fact, the only time I ever think about him being black is when someone, usually someone from the left like Chris Matthews, brings race into the conversation, and I'm a right-wing, racist bigot. Why is it that the open-minded, tolerant left can manage to forget race only for an hour?
It's interesting. He is post-racial, by all appearances. You know, I forgot he was black tonight for an hour. You know, he's gone a long way to become a leader of this country and passed so much history in just a year or two. I mean, it's something we don't even think about. Here's the video if you want to listen to it.
